How to Dig Razor Clams
A practical guide to finding clam shows and digging razor clams successfully.
Find a Clam Show
Look for small dimples, holes, or depressions in the sand. These marks can indicate a razor clam beneath the surface.
Position Your Clam Gun
Center the clam gun over the show and angle it slightly toward the ocean. Push it firmly into the sand.
Pull the Core
Cover the air hole on the clam gun and pull upward steadily to remove the sand core.
Retrieve the Clam
Check the hole and removed sand carefully. Razor clams can move quickly, so work efficiently.
